After several years of studies and tests in partnership with one of the automotive industry’s big names, the Pronic tapping solution associated with a BASS tap and a dedicated lubricant has achieved a technological feat with a 1000DP “dual phase” steel , known to be very hard and resistant. This innovative solution makes a much lower sheet thickness possible on a similar part.
 
For the same crash test results, we switched to 1.5mm instead of the previous 2mm, thanks to the 1000DP dual phase.

Each piece finished with 6 tapping threads (5 M6 and 1 M8), will benefit from an improved weight. These parts are used for car seats. Two are needed per seat. As an obvious corollary, this represents a net reduction in the total weight of the vehicle.
 
Already present on the automotive market with conventional steel parts, Pronic can now position itself in first place when it comes to in-die tapping this new material. Thanks to its in-die tapping solution and DP 1000 steel, cars will become lighter!

Tap used: BASS DURAMAX 1H KR HSSE-TIN.
Rate obtained: 18 strokes/minute obtained with the help of our partner and tap manufacturer BASS GmbH.
